JV Boys take 2nd and Varsity Boys 3rd at DFAL on Oct. 20th
Our second DFAL races included several nail-biting finishes, with the JV boys taking 2nd place behind Campo in the overall team scoring, and our Varsity boys taking 3rd (Campo 1st, Las Lomas 2nd). Frosh/Soph and JV ran 2 miles, whereas Varsity ran 3 miles.
Highlights from the 10/20 races are as follows (with full details posted on Team Documents):
Frosh/Soph Girls: Sophomore Mollie Larsen had a great race, placing 17th overall with a 13:23 two-mile time, followed by fellow sophomore Izzy Lee at 13:36 (24th) and freshman Andrea Tamminga, 13:58 (30th). The team was 5th overall.
Frosh/Soph Boys: Freshman Charlie Zamanian broke 11-minutes with a 10:54 for a 13th overall finish, followed by sophomore Mark Tamminga at 11:08 (22nd) and Cameron Hoyh, 11:15 (25th). The team was 5th overall.
JV Girls: all 5 JV girls all had strong performances, with senior Karen Fuhriman leading the way and coming in at 14:16 (14th overall), with fellow seniors Miranda Sam (14:51, 20th) and Hannah Reed (15:16, 24th) and juniors Emily Hassard (15:20, 26th) and Katie Dewitt (15:27, 29th) to complete the team with a 5th place overall.
JV Boys: the MATS JV boys have been very solid this season, coming in 2nd overall as a team on Tuesday. Outstanding top 3 MATS performances were led by seniors Luke Sanchez (11:10, 9th overall), David Fuhriman (11:21, 14th) and Ashraf Mathkour (11:26, 15th).
Varsity Girls: the MATS 5 Varsity girls finished one right after another in Tuesday’s 3-mile race, with junior Savannah Ryder coming in at 20:33 for a 20th overall, followed closely by freshman Lauren Branagh (20:41, 21st), senior Leahna Purcell (20:54, 22nd), freshman Sierra Ryder (20:57, 23rd) and freshman Hannah Li (21:32, 25th). The team was 4th place overall.
Varsity Boys: our Varsity boys gave the crowd a thrill of a race with junior Jamie Fehrnstrom blasting away from his Campo competitor Thomas Joyce to win the Varsity race at 15:29! Sophomore Tyler Hanson battled a Las Lomas competitor to the end, moving ahead to come in 3rd overall with a 15:45. Junior Matt Stewart was 16th with a 16:40, and senior Rory Fearon posted a 17:02 for a 19th place. The team was third behind Campo (1st) and Las Lomas (2nd).
