2011 Bay Area Cross Challenge

*Can’t get enough of cross country? Check out this new race at the Golden Gate polo fields (where we go for the Lowell Invite). The race is on January 16th.

The Bay Area Track Club is proud to bring the inaugural Bay Area Cross Challenge (BAXC) to the San Francisco Bay Area community. This event will be a unique opportunity for runners of all ability levels to compete alongside professional distance runners on a cross country course in the heart of San Francisco. Enjoy post-race food, prizes, and music as you meet and mingle with Olympians and world-class athletes.

9am – Under-20 Girls 4k
9:30am – Under-20 Boys 6k
10am – Open Women’s 6k
10:30am – Open Men’s 8k
11am – Awards
11:20am – Kids’ Race
Registration
- Please register at our Active.com event page
- Registration is 25% off until December 31, 2010; $40 from January 1, 2011 to race day
- No registration necessary for Kids’ Races.
- Corporate Challenge teams please contact meet management prior to registering

Event Information
- Food, prizes, raffle, and music will be available!
- Meet, mingle with and/or compete against Olympians and world-class athletes including Shannon Rowbury, Alysia Johnson, Bolota Asmerom, David Torrence, Magdalena Lewy-Boulet, Tom Kloos, and many more!
- Supporting the BAXC will help the Bay Area Track Club achieve its mission of promoting healthy and fit lifestyles through our community outreach programs for citizens of the greater Bay Area

Course Information

- The course is mostly dirt with steady climbs and descents. There is one 150m stretch of pavement.

- There are many excellent local hotels, coffee shops, and grocery stores to fit your needs

- The BAXC course is easily accessible from all over the San Francisco Bay Area

- BAXC is offering a total of $9,000 in prize money between the two Open races:
1st: $2,000
2nd: $1,000
3rd: $750
4th: $300
5th: $200
6th: $150
7th: $100
