The Mt. Sac Invitational in Walnut, CA, the world’s largest and possibly hardest 3-mile cross country course, turned out to be a great one for Miramonte.

We started out the day at 10:52 in the boys JV race. Jr. Mark Tamminga lead the race for most of the 3 miles, finishing in 16:42, with Jr. Jimmy McFeely 2nd at 16:59, both earning medals! Sr. Brent Glowatch, battling injuries, came in at 18:40 for 44th. This race had 200 runners!

Our JV girls, Seniors Selena MacDuff and Emma Trevarthen, ran a strong race, kicking it in at the end to finish with a 22:14 (18th place) and 22:56 (27th place) respectively, out of 149 runners.

Our only freshman, Scout Clark, ran in the girls freshman race, placing 21st with a 22:41, out of 148 freshman girls!

The Mats varsity girls’ finishes were very close, coming in 2nd as a team in their division, with Jr. Ariel Thomas as our top lady Mat at 20:11 (12th medal winner), sophomore Sierra Ryder at 20:12 (13th medal winner), sophomore Andrea Tamminga at 21:08 (30th), sophomore Hannah Li at 21:17 (31st), Sr. Savannah Ryder at 21:21 (33th) and Jr. Rebekah Ent at 21:41 (39th) out of 128 varsity girls.

The Mats varsity boys were in the sweepstakes division 3 race, which includes the very fast varsity teams, where they placed 2nd! The team was led by Sr. Jamie Fehrnstrom with a 15:40 (9th place medal winner), followed by Jr. Dillon Reed at 15:46 (15th place medal winner), then Jr. Tyler Hanson at 15:52 (19th), Sr. Adam Roeder at 16:13 (37th), Sr. Lawrence Han at 16:30 (58th) and Sr. Matt Stewart at 16:45 (71st) out of 119 sweepstakes varsity boys.
