Miramonte Cross Country-OLD

This meet serves as the season opener for about 20 teams from throughout the bay area. It is run on one of the toughest courses we will see all year and the temperature was about 103 degrees. The Matador veterans had many strong debut races and the newbies hung tough in brutal conditions and know they will not run a more difficult course all season.

Ed Sias results:

This second race of the season saw many significant improvements from the previous week as well as a ton of drops in time from last year at this meet for returning runners. Highlights included a 3rd place team finish in the Varsity Boys Small Schools race and freshman Cassidy Haskell’s debut varsity race ending with her crossing the finish line about 20 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher in the Varsity Girls Small Schools race. Cassidy had the 2nd fastest girl’s time of the day and her 11:58 mark was the first Miramonte girl to ever break 12 minutes at the meet.

Parking will be difficult at this park as well…maybe even a little tougher than last week. Please make sure you are at the park 2 hours BEFORE your scheduled race time.

On another note, any athletes with sweat jackets from last track season, please bring them to practice by Monday 9/21 so that they can be taken for embroidery with all the new orders.

XC uniform orders are due this Sunday, September 6! Please go to the MHS web store to purchase your athlete’s uniform. All athletes will need a singlet and shorts for racing. Girls have the option of providing their own black spandex shorts in lieu of the green uniform shorts, if they prefer. Other items that you may want to consider are the warm-up jackets and pants – which can be embroidered with your athlete’s name for $5 per name per article of clothing.
