News and Announcements

The North Coast Section race on Saturday, November 20th was a first time experience for many of our Varsity runners, with 8 of the 13 MATS being new to this meet. The boys and girls races had on and off rain with cold temps, making the 3-mile course even more challenging. The MATS boys placed 7th overall out of 22 teams (153 runners) and the girls placed 11th out of 19 teams (128 runners) on the muddy course. The boys were the first race of the day, with our top 3 MATS being Sophomore Tyler Hanson at 9th overall with a 15:52, qualifying for the State championships in Clovis on November 27th, and Juniors Jamie Fehrnstrom at 16:04 and Matt Stewart at 16:46. Junior Adam Roeder was the 4th MAT with a time of 17:02, with Seniors Rory Fearon at 17:23 and Pierce Haley at 17:46, and Junior Lawrence Han, in his first NCS, ran a 17:54. The MATS boys ran much faster at NCS, even despite the conditions.
For the MATS girls, the top 3 finishers were Senior Leahna Purcell, posting a personal best with a 20:06 and placing 39th overall, followed by Freshman Sierra Ryder who came in 6 seconds later with a 20:12 and her sister, Junior Savannah Ryder at 21:01. Freshman Meg Swinton ran a fantastic race after being injured and ill, with a time of 21:04, with fellow Freshman Hannah Li coming in at 21:41 and first time NCS runner, Sophomore Mollie Larsen at 22:39. All six girls ran considerably faster at NCS then they did at the DFAL championships on 11/6.
Complete Division III results are posted on the Team Documents section of Team Pages.

Concluding our final DFAL meet at Hidden Valley Park in Martinez on Saturday, November 6th, we finished the season with thrilling finishes, lots of cheering and exceptional parent support. Thank you to the parents who were able to help at this meet! As we have had for the past two DFAL Center meets, the Frosh/Soph and JV ran on the 2-mile course and Varsity ran on the 3-mile course. Almost all of our runners ran significantly faster than the first and second races at Hidden Valley in September!
Our division places for the championships are as follows:
• Frosh/Soph Girls—5th place
• Frosh/Soph Boys—4th place
• JV Girls—4th place

Special note: Freshmen Colleen McCullough and Hanna Abruzzo had two of the best finishes of the meet, with full blast sprints to the finish line, passing other runners until they crossed the finish line! This was very exciting to see!

13 Miramonte XC runners competed in the Lafayette Reservoir Run on Halloween. It was a great day to run fast, have fun with teammates and enjoy the local community business booths.
The three different runs available on Sunday were the 5k that does not go through the reservoir, the 10k that takes you through the 2.7 mile reservoir perimeter, and the 2-mile fun run.
