Your performances today were amazing! Congratulations to our new runners who just experienced their first high school cross country race, and to our veterans, who improved by leaps and bounds, literally! Below are the top 3 MATS per division as well as the link to the results from today’s races:

Frosh boys—5th out of 15 teams, with Brian Haufler leading the Mats with a 12:43, followed by Gabriel Sloan (13:35) and Charlie O’Brien (13:36).

Frosh/Soph boys top 7 limited—5th out of 34 teams, with Charlie Zamanian as the first MAT with an 11:14 for 4th place, with Miles McCaulou (11:57) and Jeff Lee (12:16) as the 2nd and 3rd MATS respectively.

Frosh/Soph girls top 7 limited race—4th out of 27 teams; Sierra Ryder was not only the fastest MAT for frosh/soph but was for all of our lady MATS, with a time of 13:23 for a 10th place finish, with Hannah Li at 14:06 and Andrea Tamminga at 14:29.

JV Boys top 7 limited race—3rd out of 24 teams; we have a very strong junior team, with Bobby Veres, who ran a solid 11:47 for a 9th place finish, followed by Jr teams Jimmy McFeely (12:05) and David Allen (12:31).

FS/JV Boys Unlimited Race—this race was dominated by Sr. MAT Brent Glowatch (see Flotrack video link below) who came in 29 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher with a time of 11:44! So. Emmet Carn was the next MAT (13:17), followed by So. teammate Jackson Doyle at 13:25.

JV Girls top 7 limited race—20th out of 21 teams; Alyssa Trumble was our first JV girl, with a time of 17:25, followed by Emily Sloan (17:59) and Catrin Farr (18:26), all juniors. Way to go!

FS/JV Girls Unlimited Race—our freshman girls were outstanding in this race, with Fr. Georgia Roden coming in 9th overall with a time of 16:25, with So. teammate Lindsey Buckel (new to cross country) at 16:52, then Fr. Sondra Abruzzo at 16:57. Great job ladies!

Varsity Boys—1st!!!!!!! out of 23 teams; this race was the race of the day, with the MATS battling with the Campo boys. Jr. Tyler Hanson pulled away in the last part of the race to win with an overall top 25 time of all time (27 years) with a 10:14, followed by Jr. Dillon Read at 10:26 and Sr. Jamie Fehrnstrom at 10:37. We have a plaque to add to the team’s accomplishments.

Varsity Girls—11th out of 20 teams; 3 new runners to cross country had the 3 fastest varsity girls MATS times today, with Jr. Rebekah Ent at 14:10, followed Jr. Ariel Thomas (14:18), then Sr. Selena MacDuff (15:05).

XC Parent's Potluck/Meeting on Aug. 31

Please help to kick off our xc season by coming to a team potluck on Wed. Aug. 31 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the MHS cafeteria. Our coaches will be covering all “need to know” information for the season. You won’t want to miss this important meeting! Our athletes will be joining us for the potluck at 5:30 pm immediately following their time trials that afternoon. 2011 Summer XC Camp in Tahoe

Here is the information on this summer’s cross country camp in Tahoe. Don’t forget to attend the brief lunch meeting in Henderson’s room tomorrow (5/25) at 12. We will discuss this camp, summer training and the 2011 schedule.

You can start signing up for the camp by filling out the permission slip with your check and giving it to Henderson (room 223) or me (Coach Z). You can also mail the check and form to him at his home (see his address in the information).

2011 Bay Area Cross Challenge

*Can’t get enough of cross country? Check out this new race at the Golden Gate polo fields (where we go for the Lowell Invite). The race is on January 16th.

The Bay Area Track Club is proud to bring the inaugural Bay Area Cross Challenge (BAXC) to the San Francisco Bay Area community. This event will be a unique opportunity for runners of all ability levels to compete alongside professional distance runners on a cross country course in the heart of San Francisco. Enjoy post-race food, prizes, and music as you meet and mingle with Olympians and world-class athletes.
